Great Valley Principal, Pottstown Man, Resigns After Drug Charges

POTTSTOWN, PA — A local man and principal at Great Valley School District resigned from his position after stealing drugs from the school nurse's office, according to sources.
Michael Flick, 44, of Pottstown, has been charged with eight counts of theft by unlawful taking and eight counts of possession of a controlled substance, court records show.
"This news comes as a tremendous shock to our school community, and there are many details that we are not able to share," Great Valley Superintendent Regina Speaker Palubinsky said in a statement. "However, together, we will work through this difficult time."

Flick was released on $10,000 unsecured bail Tuesday and will appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 30.
NBC10 reports that Flick admitted he stole prescription pills from the nurse's office in the school.

"Although we realize this is a very difficult situation, we will work as a collaborative team to move forward, and we ask that our school community comes together – as it often does - to support each other," Palubinsky said. "We send our positive thoughts to Mr. Flick and his family as he focuses on his health."
According to Action News, Flick is seeking treatment.
