Major Fire In Pottstown, Investigation Underway

POTTSTOWN, PA — A powerful two-alarm fire severely damaged multiple homes in Pottstown Saturday night, and an investigation into the destructive incident is underway.

It began at around 9:15 p.m. on Beech Street near Manatawny Street.

The blaze spread quickly, and was challenging to battle, due to what fire officials described as hoarding conditions.

The fire appeared to be concentrated in the attic of one of the homes when crews arrived.

Once the fire in the first house was contained, crews focused their efforts on the second house, with dozens of firefighters from around the county and nearby area arriving to assist.

Firefighters remained on scene until 2 a.m.

It's not yet known if there are any injuries.

Officials have not yet publicly speculated on a cause, and an investigation remains ongoing.

It comes just days after multiple other destructive fires in Montgomery County, including at the Philmont Country Club in Lower Moreland and a four-alarm blaze at a warehouse in West Norriton.
