Major Project To Reconstruct A Mile Of Route 422 To Begin Next Week
More than a mile of U.S. 422 in Montgomery and Chester counties will be reconstructed in a project beginning Sept. 25.

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — More than a mile of U.S. 422 in Montgomery, Chester, and Berks counties will be reconstructed in a project beginning Sept. 25, Governor Wolf's office announced on Friday.
Construction will improve 1.2 miles of 422 that runs through North Coventry, West Pottsgrove, and Douglass Township, officials said.
Work is slated to continue at least through Thursday, Sept. 28.

"This project is about moving traffic more effectively, efficiently andsafelyalong a major southeast Pennsylvania corridor,” Gov. Wolf said on Friday. “Breaking ground on this project moves PennDOT another step closer to completing the overall reconstruction of seven miles of U.S. 422 in Chester and Montgomery counties.”
The new project will reconfigure the Stowe Interchange to a diamond configuration, replace the existing ramps and culverts, and also install new Intelligent Transportation Systems equipment such as message boards, signing, pavement markings, lighting, concrete median barriers, median glare screens and a guide rail.

In addition, crews will upgrade stormwater management facilities and pipes and restore area wetlands.
Closures will be in place from Sept. 25 through Sept. 28 overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 p.m. between Benjamin Franklin Highway in Douglass and Route 100 in Pottstown.
H & K Group, Inc. of Schwenksville is the general contractor on the $35,581,408 project, which has been financed with state funds from Act 89, Pennsylvania’s Transportation Plan.
The entire Route 422 improvement project is scheduled to be completed in fall 2020.
