School Bus Driver Was DUI, Nearly 4X Legal Limit With 54 Children Aboard: Montco DA
Police said the driver, who had open bottles of Tito's vodka in the school bus with 54 children on board, was swerving wildly.
DOUGLASS TOWNSHIP, PA β A Montgomery County school bus driver was drunk when she drove erratically, nearly hitting other vehicles and telephone poles while 54 children were on board, the district attorney's office announced Tuesday.
The incident occurred back on Feb. 6 at around 4 p.m. in Douglass Township.
Kelly Weber, 46, of Boyertown, was swerving the bus from the start of the route, police said. Police said they later found inside the bus an open 750 milliliter bottle of Titoβs vodka, a pair of empty 50 milliliter bottles of Tito's, and receipt for the booze from Fine Wine and Good Spirits at 9:22 a.m. that morning.

Many of the 54 children on board called or texted their parents during the ride out of fear due to Weber's driving, according to police. One of the children even got off the bus at the incorrect stop just to get to safety.
Five of the children on board were under six years old.

Weber eventually pulled over into a snowbank near the intersection of Second Avenue and Gilbert Road, where officers found her.
Weber consented to a blood draw, and labs showed a blood alcohol concentration of .331, the DA said, almost four times the legal limit in Pennsylvania.
She also had a Delta-9 THC level of 6.6.
"We are all thankful that this defendant didnβt crash the bus and cause further harm to these children," DA Kevin Steele Steele said in a statement.
Weber checked herself into a rehab facility immediately after the incident. Police are currently arranging a time for her to turn herself in. Once in custody, she'll be arraigned on charges of endangering the welfare of children and driving under the influence.
