New 1.1 Mile Stretch Of Schuylkill River Trail Opens In Pottstown

The Schuylkill River Trail continues to grow.

POTTSTOWN, PA — The Schuylkill River Trail continues to grow.

A new 1.1 mile stretch of the trail in Pottstown and Lower Pottsgrove was recently completed and opened to the public, running along Industrial Highway and Hanover Street.

It's an important addition for the popular biking, hiking, and running path, which ultimately aims to run unbroken from Philadelphia to above Schuylkill Haven.

The trail already runs largely unbroken from Center City to past Spring City. A stretch of uncompleted trail sits between Parker Ford and Kenilworth, before continuing on again past Reading.

This latest completed stretch of trail was funded with $810,251 from Montgomery County, and $199,000 from the state's Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
