Officer Involved In Montco Shooting, 1 Dead: DA

UPPER POTTSGROVE, PA — An officer was involved in a fatal shooting in Upper Pottsgrove Township in the early hours Sunday morning, the Montgomery County District Attorney's office said.

The incident occurred at around 12:29 p.m. on Aug. 23 at a home on Snyder Road.

Police were called to the scene following reports of an attempted break-in.

Officers on scene saw a man, who has not been identified, behind the home, the DA said.

Specifics of what happened next are not yet clear.

"An encounter ensued and police fired at the male subject, fatally striking the subject," the district attorney's office said.

An investigation is underway, led by the Montgomery County Detective Bureau. This occurs after every officer-involved shooting.
