Owen J. Wrestling Heads For State Tournament

The Owen J. Roberts wrestling team (16-0) will be taking a trip to the state tournament after advancing to the championship round of the District 1 AAA wrestling tournament Friday with a pair of wins. The Wildcats advanced in the quarterfinals of the competition after opponent Council Rock South forfeited due a contagious skin condition that spread throughout the team.

Roberts then defeated Marple Newtown in the semi-finals by a score of 47-10. The Wildcats will take on Norristown for the championship Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. at Upper Dublin High School. Norristown defeated Council Rock South by a score of 37-31, and Spring-Ford High by a score of 41-31 to advance to the finals.
