Pottsgrove Teacher Had Sexual Relations With Student: Cops

LOWER POTTSGROVE, PA -- Police say that a Pottsgrove High School teacher had a sexual relationship with one of his students, an 18-year-old female.

Steven Burdan, 30, was arrested Wednesday after a formal investigation began in January, according to the Lower Pottsgrove Police Department.

The incident occurred in May 2015, police allege. Burdan picked the student up at her home after coordinating with her via text message, according to authorities.

Burdan then drove the girl to his home, where they had sexual contact, police said, before driving her back home.

The school discovered the incident in January when another student discovered what had happened and told school officials, police said.

Burdan's bail has been set at $100,000 and he has been ordered to have no contact with the victim or any witnesses.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 25 at 1 p.m.
