Pottstown Boy Wins USA Mullet Championships

POTTSTOWN, PA — The finest mullet in America is right here in Montgomery County, at least in one category.
The votes are tallied and the results are in: 6-year-old Rory Ellrich of Pottstown is the winner of the 2023 USA Mullet Championships for kids.
"Congratulations to Rory and to our Top 3 finishers," event organizers said in a statement Wednesday. "This was an epic year and we cannot thank the mullet community enough for all that you have done. To watch the communities rally behind their kid was unbelievable and we really hope you made some great memories and had some fun along the way."

Rory had to advance through three rounds to get to this final round of 25, where the general public voted him the best.
"A year ago, Rory hopped into the barber's chair demanding a mullet," his bio states. "His mother, was shocked, but knew her only response was to say 'yes.' On that day, Rory's mullet was born. You can find his mullet rounding 3rd base with all that shiny 'cheddar' blowing in the wind. When his mullet is not on the field, it's out doing farm chores with his cows."

Rory's photoshoot for the competition features him wearing a Kyle Schwarber Phillies jersey. Rory proudly dons the mullet when he's playing baseball, and he's typically found wearing one type of Philadelphia sports jersey or another.
Donations made on behalf of competitors have raised $113,997.31 this competition cycle, the organizations says, benefitting organizations like Wounded Warriors and more.
