POTTSTOWN, PA — Two suspects in a bullying-linked shooting at a Pottstown home are behind bars, but the Pottstown family that was victimized feels that it should have never come to this.

The family whose middle school daughter was bullied leading up to the incident is preparing to sue the Pottstown School District, WFMZ reports.

"If it's determined that the two young men who were arrested for shooting at my clients' home had any ties to the bullying, which started within the walls of Pottstown Middle School and continued for months both on and off the school grounds without proper intervention by school officials, who seem to not care, our office will not hesitate to pursue any and all legal remedies," the family's lawyer, Thomas Kenny, told the outlet.

In a social media post detailing the experience a few weeks ago, the girl's mother said the incident stems back at least six months when students began bullying the girl. The situation escalated to the point where she was attacked by multiple other girls after school, and several more fights ensued.

The family said they tried to get the district and police to intervene, but they did not.

Pottstown said they increased security at their schools in the wake of their shooting, and Superintendent Stephen Rodriguez said the district was taking the situation very seriously and working with police.
