Pottstown School District Gears Up For Summer
The district held a curriculum and technology meeting on Thursday.
The Pottstown School District Curriculum and Technology Committee met Thursday at the district's administration building and discussed technological issues including the development of new classroom diagnostic tools, replacement of uninterruptible power sources and need to provide workshops and training sessions for faculty members.
The committee also discussed the adoption of a new language arts program for the district.
Members of the committee said some courses such as science and social studies run the risk of grading students solely in terms of content rather than taking idea presentation, focus and other key writing elements into consideration.

The new language arts program will set common course standards for writing and language arts in all subjects, placing emphasis on writing skills and language comprehension in all subjects.
Also mentioned at the meeting were community engagement ideas for August in-service days. The committee discussed the possibility of sending teachers into the community to meet local business owners and industry representatives with hopes that teachers can incorporate what they have learned into their lesson plans.
