Pottstown Schools Will Be Open Despite Extreme Cold

Superintendent Sparagana says in a letter to parents that schools will be ready for the frigid temperatures.

Dear Pottstown Parents:

Tomorrow and Wednesday will be the coldest days in many years.  Although the temperature will be brutally cold, we are not planning to close schools or delay the start of school tomorrow or Wednesday.  The low temperatures are predicted to remain constant throughout the day.  Therefore, no benefit in a delayed opening. Children will be permitted to enter our schools immediately upon arrival during these next two days of extreme temperatures.

Our staff will continue to monitor our schools’ heating systems overnight.  Barring any unforeseen system failures, we anticipate that our schools will be ready for the harsh temperatures tomorrow and Wednesday.

Please help us by ensuring that your children are well dressed for the cold weather. This message is particularly important for walkers and for students who are waiting at a bus stop. There may be more parents driving their children to and from school. This may make pick up and drop off lines a bit longer.

Thank you for your help,

Jeffrey R. Sparagana, Ed.D
