A pregnant Pottstown teen died Saturday morning after shoveling snow during the blizzard, her family tells NBC10. The baby did not survive.

Briahna Gerloff, 18, collapsed and died after shoveling snow around 9 a.m., the news network says. Gerloff was due to give birth to a baby girl, who she named Kayliana, within the next month, her friends say.

Her family tells NBC10 Gerloff, who suffered from several heart defects, insisted on shoveling even though they tried to tell her stay inside.

“In two short months it will be three years since Briahna’s mother passed away. They also have to deal with financial stress including funeral costs,” the page says.

It was the second death over the weekend in Montgomery County related to snow shoveling. On Saturday, an 88-year-old Lower Providence man died shoveling snow.
