Pottstown’s New Tax Collector Can’t Be Sworn In

Pottstown’s new tax collector won’t be its tax collector after all.

Montgomery County was unable to secure a bond for Janice Gilyard, The Mercury reported, which means that Gilyard cannot take office.

Gilyard withdrew from the position in an email to Pottstown Borough Manager Mark Flanders, The Mercury said.

It was unclear why the county was unable to secure a bond for Gilyard, The Mercury said.

Pottstown’s Borough Council must appoint a replacement tax collector within 30 days.
