Pottstown's PennDOT Photo License Center Closes

POTTSTOWN, PA — The PennDOT Photo License Center in Pottstown has been shut down indefinitely, the state announced Tuesday.

The center, which was located at Commonwealth Auto Tags on 978 East High Street, has been closed due to a "facilities issue," officials said. PennDOT did not provide specifics on the issues that led to closures.

Customers who typically use the center are being redirected to the following nearby offices:

• Harleysville Photo Center located in Harley Commons, 345 Main Street in Harleysville
• Norristown Driver License Center at 1700 Markley Street, Suite 30, in Norristown
• Reading Driver License Center at the Shillington Shopping Center, 530 East Lancaster Avenue, Suite 5 in Shillington

The Pottstown office issued photo licenses and identification cards.

There is no word on when, or if, the center will reopen.
