Residents React to Power Plant Problems
Local residents discussed recent unplanned shut-downs at Exelon's Limerick Generating Station.
Roughly 25 years ago, Roy Meador was a machinist who built nuclear reactors in Tennessee.
On Monday, Meador, now a local resident, was outside the Pottstown Library where he reacted to news of problems at Exelon's Limerick Generating Station.
“Hopefully there were no releases of toxic materials,” he said and added that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission might not have “all the tools it needs” to inspect the plant. “I’m sure that agency has been gutted just like many other government agencies.”

Meador said he hadn’t heard of the problems at the plant.
“That’s a little bit disturbing in itself,” he said.

Other folks in town shared similar thoughts.
Jasmine Forbes was walking in the borough with two of her friends and stopped to discuss her feelings about the plant's problems.
“I didn’t really hear that much about this,” she said. “Something this serious, they should be telling people more about it.”
Charles Batts Jr. said he hopes the pubic will be notified if the plant has problems.
