Suspect Sought In Easter Sunday Murder In Pottstown: DA

Breaking: The victim's mother said her daughter wanted child support from suspect Bobbie Mitchell, leading him to kill her, the DA said.

POTTSTOWN, PA — Police are asking the public's help in tracking down a man suspected in the Easter Sunday slaying of a 23-year-old woman in Pottstown.

Bobbie Mitchell, 36, of Pottstown, is wanted on charges of first degree murder in the shooting death of Siani Overby, the District Attorney's Office announced Tuesday afternoon. DA Kevin Steele said that authorities believe Mitchell knows he is suspected and being hunted, making him "very dangerous."

Overby's mother told police that Mitchell is the father of Overby's 18-month-old son, and that Overby was seeking a paternity test and child support from Mitchell.

Police were called to the 300 block of Johnson Street after a neighbor reported hearing the gunfire and a woman screaming. Overby was found dead on the sidewalk, having been shot multiple times.

Overby's cell phone was found at her side, and text messages on the phone showed that she had contacted Mitchell shortly before her death, asking to see him.

Mitchell has a long criminal record, as he was charged with attempted murder in 2005 in Norristown and ultimately convicted of criminal voluntary manslaughter and aggravated assault, court documents show.
