POTTSTOWN, PA — Trails on Tap, the new traveling beer garden that is debuting this summer at locations along the Schuylkill River Trail, is now open for business at Pottstown's Riverfront Park.

Inspired by and helmed by the creators of Philadelphia's popular Parks on Tap, Trails on Tap will come to four riverfront locations in Montgomery County this summer. It all starts off in Pottstown, from June 26 through June 30.

It's about more than just beer and food, however. Free kayaking and free biking opportunities will be available on all weekend days of event, including this Saturday and Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The pop up beer garden will donate a portion of proceeds to projects supporting the health of the Schuylkill River, the Schuylkill River Trail, and the supporting nonprofit organization, Schuylkill River Greenways.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive on foot.

“Trails on Tap provides the opportunity for people to enjoy a casual social atmosphere while also experiencing the Schuylkill River Trail and River,” Schuylkill River Greenways NHA Executive Director Elaine Paul Schaefer said in a statement. “We hope residents and visitors alike will attend to celebrate this region as a destination for the craft beer and local food movement as well as to experience the area’s history and natural resources.”

After Pottstown, there will be two in events in Royersford, one in Valley Forge, and one in Norristown.

In addition to bike and kayak rentals on select days, organizers are also offering a "Pedal and Paddle" guided round-trip adventure in Pottstown, Valley Forge, and Norristown. Participants will bike for 4.5 miles, then paddle back to the Trails on Tap location in a kayak. The trip includes gear and snacks, and costs $35 all told.

Hours for Trails on Tap in Pottstown are 5 to 10 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday, 5 to 11 p.m. on Friday, 1 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday.
