U.S. 422 Lane Closures Scheduled As Concrete Beams Added

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area.

LOWER POTTSGROVE, PA -- The right lane on U.S. 422 west will be closed on weekdays over the next two weeks between the Sanatoga and Route 724 interchanges in Lower Pottsgrove Township, for the placement of 27 concrete beams on the new bridge being built over the Schuylkill River, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.

Crews will work from Tuesday, April 12, through Friday, April 15, and from Monday, April 18, through Friday, April 22, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area as backups may occur when westbound U.S. 422 is reduced to one lane during this time.

The upcoming operations are part of PennDOT’s $73.3 million project to rebuild 1.6 miles of U.S. 422 between the Sanatoga and Route 724 (Schuylkill Road) interchanges, and construct new bridges over the Schuylkill River and Norfolk Southern railroad tracks. Construction on the entire project is scheduled to finish in October 2018.
