Victim Of Fatal Berks Co. Crash Was Pottstown Man: Coroner

The investigation remains ongoing after the death of the 56-year-old man.

POTTSTOWN, PA β€” The victim of a fatal crash in Berks County over the weekend has been identified as a Pottstown man, the coroner's office said.

The incident occurred at 7:16 a.m. on Saturday, June 27 near 1832 Old Swede Road in Amity Township.

The victim's vehicles swerved off the roadway and struck a tree, investigators found. He was the only occupant of his vehicle.

It's not yet clear what caused him to leave the roadway.

Emergency responders extricated the man from the vehicle and he was taken to the Reading Hospital emergency department. He was pronounced dead there.

Police are in the process of notifying next of kin, and are witholding his name in the meantime. He has been identified only as a 56-year-old man.

The Berks County Coroner's Office and the Amity Township Police Department are continuing the investigate the incident, as the cause of the accident is not yet certain.
