YWCA Tri-County Area &NAACP Pottstownhost the "Pottstown Vigil for Charlottesville" at 6 p.m. Thursday

YWCA Tri-County Area, in partnership with NAACP Pottstown, will host the “Pottstown Vigil for Charlottesville” at 6 p.m. Thursday, August 17, in front of Borough Hall, 100 E. High St., Pottstown.
Both organizations are asking area residents to come together in the theme of unity in the wake of last weekend’s events in Charlottesville, Va., putting aside differences to promote peace and community and proving that a diverse community such as Pottstown is stronger when we pull together. Those attending are welcome to bring a poem or words of inspiration to share, and are asked to bring no political signs, only displays of unity.
A core component of the mission of YWCA Tri-County Area and YWCA USA is eliminating racism, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. Our mission is infused into all of our work in the community so that every voice may be heard. In addition to partnering with other community organizations in advocacy events such as the Pottstown Vigil for Charlottesville, YWCA Tri-County Area participates in the YWCA USA’s annual Stand Against Racism each April, and will host the second annual Race Against Racism 5K April 28, 2018, in Pottstown’s Riverfront Park.
