YWCA Tri-County Area suspends education programs through March 31

Early Education, Adult Education, and youth programming affected

On Thursday, March, Gov. Tom Wolf issued an order that requires the closure of all public and private Montgomery County schools including their transportation systems beginning today, Friday, March 13, through March 31. This order includes schools of all types, such as pre-K, higher education and private schools. State-licensed child care programs (center, group and family providers) in Montgomery County also are to remain closed for at least the next two weeks.

As a provider of state-funded early childhood education and adult education centers, YWCA Tri-County Area has closed our early education and adult education facilities through March 31. YW’s Youth Empowerment and Foster Grandparents programs, both of which take place in school facilities, also have been suspended.

YWCA’s 25th Annual Tribute to Exceptional Women, originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, at the Valley Forge Casino Resort, has been rescheduled for Monday, June 22. YW will post information about future events as available on its website: ywcatricountyarea.org.

To our knowledge, no one connected to YW has been infected with the Novel COVID-19 virus; however, we are using this time to thoroughly clean and sanitize all facilities.
