17 Radnor Students Headed To States In National History Competition

RADNOR TOWNSHIP, PA — Numerous Radnor Township School District students will compete in the National History Day State Competition next month after strong finishes in the regional round.

Seventeen projects by Radnor middle and high schoolers earned top three finishes in their categories at the Southeastern PA National History Day Regional Contest on April 1 and 2, according to the district.

The 2022 State Contest will take place May 7 and May 8 at the University of Scranton.

All projects centered around this year's National History Day theme, "Debate and Diplomacy: Successes, Failures, Consequences."

The projects that advanced to the state competition are:

• Grace Kimlinger (7th-grade) - 3rd Place, Junior Individual Exhibit
• Luke Howard and Tatum Jolley (8th-grade) - 1st Place, Junior Group Website
• Mohammed Badri and Daniel Kellis (8th-grade) - 2nd Place, Junior Group Website
• Meredith Gelles (8th-grade) - 1st Place, Junior Individual Website
• Sophie Brecher (8th-grade) - 2nd Place, Junior Individual Website
• Vivian Bajus (8th-grade) - 3rd Place, Junior Individual Website
• Jennifer Ma (8th-grade) - 1st Place, Junior Individual Documentary
• Jason Wills (8th-grade) - 3rd Place, Junior Individual Documentary
• Malaika Virk and Annie Zhong (8th-grade) - 2nd Place, Junior Group Documentary
• James Frank (8th-grade) - 1st Place, Junior Individual Paper
• Karlie Berkovich and Brenna Kent (8th-grade) - 2nd Place, Junior Group Performance
• Laila Holtman (7th-grade) - 3rd Place, Junior Individual Performance

National History Day is a year-long educational program that engages students in grades 6 through 12 in the process of discovery and interpretation of historical topics.

Students produce dramatic performances, imaginative exhibits, multimedia documentaries, websites and research papers based on research related to the annual theme.

These projects are then evaluated at local, state, and national competitions.
