2015 Villanova Graduate To Represent USA At International Summit

One young woman will make the journey from Radnor to Thailand this fall.

A 2015 graduate of Villanova University’s School of Business will represent the United States at the upcoming One Young World Summit, according to a news release by the school.

Meadow Hackett, who walked at graduation at May, was selected for her “leadership, concern about global issues, ability to generate and articulate impactful ideas, teamwork and commitment to volunteering,” Villanova said.

The event will be hosted in Bangkok, Thailand on November 18 through November 21. Hackett will join 1,250 other delegates from 190 nations around the globe.

The OYW encourages brainstorming and networking between some of the world’s best young minds. High-profile speakers frequently attend the event, and past notables include Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, Bob Geldof, Kofi Annan, Sir Richard Branson, Mary Robinson, Muhammad Yunus, Jamie Oliver, and former President Bill Clinton.

Hacket, a native of Lake Placid, majored in accounting and finance at Villanova, and worked with the Adirondack Youth Climate Summit, a regional climate conference, while in school.

She will begin working at Deloitte’s audit practice in Philadelphia this fall.

“I hope to work in sustainability and climate change services,” Hackett said. “This is a growing field in the financial services industry and I hope to aid companies comply with regulations, create strategic plans for resilience, and increase transparency.”
