2016 Villanova University Hall Of Fame Class Announced

Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook is among the class.

Eight former Villanova University student athletes, one coach, and a longtime basketball assistant will join the university's Varsity Club Hall Of Fame next month, according to the university.

The eight athletes represent eight sports: women's basketball, field hockey, baseball, softball, rowing, men's swimming, track and field, and football.

Among the inductees is former Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook, Class of 2001, and former men's basketball head coach Steve Lappas who took the Wildcats to the NCAA Tournament in 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1999 and served as assistant coach for the 1985 National Championship team.

Also being recognized is Mary Anne Gabuzda, who has been pivotal in both the women's and men's basketball teams by serving in administrative capacities since 1980. Gabuzda is being award the Jake Nevin Special Recognition Award.

The inductees will be honored on Jan. 28 at 41st annual Hall of Fame Dinner at Villanova's Connelly Center.
