2018 Pennsylvania Primary: Guide To Key Delaware County Races

Here's a look at the contested races on the ballot in Delaware County:
U.S. Senate

Two-term Democratic incumbent Bob Casey Jr., 57, is unopposed for the Democratic nomination. He'll face the winner of the Republican race pitting U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta of Hazleton against state Rep. Jim Christiana of Beaver County.
Pennsylvania Governor

Incumbent Tom Wolf is unopposed for the Democratic nomination. Vying for the Republican nomination are state Sen. Scott Wagner of York County, retired businessman and U.S. Army veteran Paul Mango of Pittsburgh and attorney Laura Ellsworth of Pittsburgh.

Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor
Incumbent Mike Stack faces a plethora of Democratic challengers, including Braddock Mayor John Fetterman, Chester County Commissioner Kathi Cozzone, Lancaster County Commissioner Craig Lehman, Montgomery County Commissioner Ray Sosa and Nina Ahmad, a former aide to Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney.
Republicans seeking the nomination are Washington County Commissioner Diane Irey Vaughan, management consultant and Bellevue councilwoman Kathy Coder, Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Gale, Montgomery County developer Jeff Bartos and pro-life advocate Peg Luksik.
U.S. Representative 5th Congressional District
Formerly the 7th District, which was lambasted as one of the most egregious cases of gerrymandering in the nation then redrawn per the Pennsylvania Supreme County, the 5th District race is loaded with Democrats after news of Republican seat holder Pat Meehan's alleged sexual misconduct and use of taxpayer funds to settle the allegations.

Just one Republican, Pearl Kim, is running for take the seat. Republican Paul Addis was set to run against her in the primary, but he withdrew himself from the race.
Democrats vying for the seat are:

- Mary Gay Scanlon
- Molly Sheehan
- Greg Vitali
- Theresa Wright
PA's 160th Legislative District
Incumbent seat holder Stephen Barrar (R) is running to keep the seat uncontested, but two Democrats are vying for the seat in the primary. Anton Andrew, the son of immigrant parents and a lawyer, and Catherine Spahr, an environmental activist and municipal official in Newtown Township, are facing off in the primary on Tuesday. The 160th covers part of Delaware and Chester Counties.
PA's 165th Legislative District
There is just one Democrat – Jennifer O'Mara, a West Chest and UPenn grad from Springfield – vying to unseat 165th District incumbent Alex Charlton (R). However, Charlton faces a challenger in the Tuesday primary. Regina Scheerer is opposing Charlton in the primary. Scheerer, of Springfield, is a retired middle school math teacher.
PA's 168th Legislative District
Incumbent Christopher Quinn is unopposed in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives District 168 Republican primary election. But Democrats Philip Block and Kristin Seale hope to unseat him come November. Block is a Chester Heights Borough Councilman and a technology director of water treatment for a Philadelphia - based chemical company, for which he designs, markets and implements technologies to clean up the environment. Seale, of Media, is a member of the Rose Tree Media School Board and has founded two nonprofit women’s sports organizations.
PA's 26th Senate District
Similar to other state races, incumbent Republican Thomas McGarrigle is unopposed in the 26th District race, but will have one of two Democrats to face off with come November. Tim Kearney and Tanner Rouse are looking to turn the seat over to Democrats. Kearney is the mayor of Swarthmore and been a champion of environmental stewardship, the LGBTQ community, and stricter gun regulations. Rouse, of Upper Providence, is an Assistant District Attorney in the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office homicide division.
