At least 44 Pennsylvania school districts have been recognized for preparing their students well for college (see list below).
The 44 Pennsylvania school districts were named to the the College Board's AP District Honor Roll, recognizing their students' achievements in Advanced Placement classes.
Overall, 433 schools nationwide received the distinction.

The AP Honor Roll recognizes districts that offer high levels of AP classes while having high numbers of students receiving final exam scores of three or more, on a scale of one to five.
Inclusion on the 7th Annual AP District Honor Roll is based on the examination of three years of AP data, from 2014 to 2016, for the following criteria:

- Increased participation in taking the exams;
- Increased or maintained the percentage of African-American, Hispanic/Latino and American Indian/Alaska Native students taking the exams;
- Increased or maintained the percentage of African-American, Hispanic/Latino and American Indian/Alaska Native students scoring 3 or more on at least one AP Exam; and
- Improved performance levels.
