94-Year-Old WWII Vet To Earn Honorary Degree From Villanova: Report

Irwin Medway will add the honorary degree from Villanova to his collection, which includes a Purple Heart and Bronze Medal.

VILLANOVA, PA – What else could a 94-year-old, decorated WWII veteran feel he needs to accomplish after living a storied and lengthy life? How about a college education. That's exactly what Irwin Medway thought.

Medway, of Lansdale, has been taking classes at the Main Line university for a long time. Twenty-four years to be exact.

According to the Philly Voice, Medway has been enrolled in the school's Senior Citizen Personal Enrichment Program.

The program gives senior citizens personal betterment in lieu of credits.

Despite Medway not earning real credits, the university will present him with an honorary degree of Doctor of Humanities at its Saturday, May 20 commencement ceremony where former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg will address the graduates.

Medway will add the degree to his collection of a Purple Heart and Bronze Medal during his time as an infantryman in WWII.
