Shooting Report Locks Down Villanova Campus Monday

A resident in a Villanova dorm reported hearing gunshots Monday, but police said there was never an actual threat to the school, thankfully.

VILLANOVA, PA — There was no active shooter or a threat to Villanova University's community Monday night, according to Radnor Township Police.

Police said at about 5:25 p.m. police got a call of a resident in the St. Monica Hall residence hall hearing three gunshots in the residence hall.

Villanova and Radnor police went to the building and determined the call was unfounded after sweeping the area.

No one was hurt and no shots were fired.

Police said there was a "mix up," leading to the resident calling 911.

Police said, however, they were glad the student called considering the potential for danger and harm were there actual shots fired.

Authorities said it's unclear what the resident heard that they believed were shots.

Villanova sent out an alert to the community and evacuated the building, as well as issued a shelter in place
