A 32-year-old woman charged with kidnapping an infant at the King of Prussia mall in March is planning an insanity defense, according to reports.

A lawyer for Cherie Amoore, 32, of Tredyffrin, has filed papers in Montgomery County court notifying the judge of the defense strategy, the West Chester Daily Local News reports.

Amoore is facing felony kidnapping charges after police say she kidnapped an infant baby boy from the mall food court on March 31.

According to the court papers obtained by the Daily Local News, Amoore "suffered from dissociative episode secondary to false pregnancy and subsequent depression" at the time of the incident, which sparked a massive search for the 7-week-old, including an Amber Alert.

Amoore, who has pleaded not guilty, is scheduled for a pretrial conference in August.

Authorities say Amoore took the baby from its mother after befriending her in the mall. A criminal complaint reveals she told police after the incident that she recently had a baby who passed away and in "an out of body experience," took the stranger's child because "I just wanted my baby."

When she held the 7-week-old, the "feelings rushed back," she told investigators.

The baby was located nearly five hours later at Amoore's Chester County home.
