Alligator Caught In Delaware County Creek Sunday
Rescuing cats from trees or ducks from storm drains is sort of common, but an alligator in Delco? That's something new.
PROSPECT PARK, PA – You don't often hear about firefighters wrangling alligators all the way up here in Pennsylvania, but that's exactly what happened Sunday in Delaware County as a gator was found in a Prospect Park creek.
The reptile was found at about 8:30 a.m. on Sunday in a creek in Prospect Park.
Tracie Hoffecker found it in the creek running through her backyard while checking out a big turtle in the creek and was naturally shocked.

"Oh my god," she exclaimed in a Facebook live video, which is featured above. "There's an alligator in my backyard!"
Fox 29 reports Hoffecker called a relative who is a member of the Philadelphia Fire Department to come over and wrangle the gator.

Police told Fox 29 that the creature was more than likely illegally and inhumanely dumped, however owning an alligator is legal in Pennsylvania.
Crews from Slimy Scaly Taily Reptile Rescue showed up to take the three-foot gator to the Baltimore Aquarium in hope of it being adopted there.
