RADNOR, PA — About 100 firefighters responded to a three-alarm blaze that destroyed a large house early Wednesday in the Villanova section of Radnor Township.

Crews were called shortly after midnight for a fire on the 800 block of Lesley Road. All residents safely evacuated from the 2-and-a-half story home, according to the Radnor Fire Company.

The fire was reported in the attic, but it quickly spread. Photos shared by Delaware County Emergency Services show flames tearing through the roof.

First-arriving firefighters began pulling ceilings in the century-old home to attack the fire. Additional crews were called in because of the size of the fire, which escalated to a third alarm.

The fire was declared under control around 2 a.m., and firefighters remained there about three hours longer, officials said.

No injuries were reported.

The house is more than a century old and assessed to be at least $1.6 million, says KYW Newsradio.

Firefighters from Delaware, Chester and Montgomery counties responded to the incident.

The fire is being investigated by the State Police Fire Marshal, Radnor Police, Radnor Fire Marshal and Delaware County detectives.
