RADNOR TOWNSHIP, PA — State Police have publicly identified the man who died in a motorcycle crash on the Blue Route (Interstate 476) last week in Radnor Township.
Christopher Caserta, 53, of Chester County's Spring City, was pronounced dead at the scene of the one-vehicle accident Thursday evening.
Caserta's obituary describes him as "an avid motorcycle and skateboard enthusiast who enjoyed the freedom and excitement that came with both." The construction worker loved spending time with his dog and his four children.
A GoFundMe campaign has been established to help support Caserta's children and offset funeral expenses.
At around 6:35 p.m. Thursday, Caserta lost control of his Harley-Davidson motorcycle while changing lanes on I-476 North. He was still on the Harley when it fell to its side, slid about 150 feet, and struck a guardrail, according to a preliminary investigation from State Police.
The Harley came to rest in the left lane, where Caserta was found. Emergency personnel rendered aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A witness told State Police that the motorcyclist was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic before the crash.
I-476 North was shut down for several hours.
