George T. Corrigan Leadership Award Presented to RHS Seniors

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 1, 2012 at Radnor, Pennsylvania

The second annual George T. Corrigan Leadership Award was presented to Mike Barnes and Moira Mahoney at the Radnor High School athletic awards night. The award is given to a graduating boy and girl high school lacrosse player who has shown exemplary character, sportsmanship, and leadership.  The scholarships are funded through the Friends of Radnor Lacrosse, a non-profit support group for Radnor Lacrosse. The award honors the years of dedication, service, and leadership George Corrigan Sr. has given, and still gives, to the sport he loves.

An All-American attackman at University of Maryland, George Corrigan played club lacrosse in Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Chicago, a Club All-Star five consecutive years 60-64. He spent over 25 years in coaching and administration with S.E. Pa. summer lacrosse leagues, a member of the group that became the Eastern Pa. Lacrosse Coaches Association.

In 2007 George entered the Pa. Lacrosse Hall of Fame as,” An individual who has demonstrated long, dedicated, and exceptional service to the game of lacrosse in Pennsylvania.

The George T. Corrigan Leadership Award is sponsored by Friends of Radnor Lacrosse. Founded in 2008, the Friends mission is to support and encourage the development of student athletes through the game of lacrosse in Radnor Township youth, middle school, and high school programs. Funds are used for equipment, scholarships, coaching staff, and clinics to enhance the lacrosse experience for our kids.
