Truck Brings Down Utility Wires In Radnor

The truck was turning around after the driver realized the truck was unable to clear the King of Prussia Road bridge in Radnor, police said.

RADNOR, PA –A truck brought down utility wires in Radnor Township Thursday morning, according to Radnor Police.

The truck was heading under the King of Prussia Road bridge when the driver realized the truck was unable to clear the 10-foot 11-inch height.

While turning around, police said the truck hit a utility police and brought down wires.

Police said they are unsure at this time if the were belong to PECO or a telecommunications provider.

The driver was uninjured.

Since 2008, nearly 40 trucks have struck the bridge, according to police.

The bridge has been hit 37 times by trucks between 2008 and 2017, according to Radnor Township Police. Police said those incidents are what they describe as major incidents where Amtrak crews are called in to assess the bridge's structure and any potential damage.

Overall, police said there have been 96 incidents where the bridge was hit in some way between 2008 and 2017. That includes the major truck strikes described above and smaller-scale incidents, such as a car scraping the underpass wall, according to police.
