Anthony Stevenson Named Radnor Elementary Principal: District

Anthony Stevenson will replace Terry Borden, who is retiring after serving as principal since 2007, the district said.

RADNOR, PA – Radnor Elementary School has a new principal for the 2017-2018 school year in Anthony Stevenson, the Radnor Township School District announced recently.

Stevenson, who serves as the district's Director of Secondary Education, will be replacing Terry Borden, who served as the school's principal since 2007.

“Dr. Stevenson is a well-respected administrator and a proven school building leader who cares deeply about the Radnor community,” RTSD Superintendent Ken Batchelor said in a statement. “He has dedicated 13 years of his professional life to serving Radnor students and families. As Principal of Radnor Elementary School, he will foster the same strong relationships with RES students, parents and staff members.”

Stevenson has an extensive background in education, as detailed in a Patch profile when Stevenson ran for a Lower Merion Township Commissioner seat in the May primary election. Stevenson won the election and will vie for a Ward 4 seat in November.

He possesses the following degrees:

  • Bachelor of arts degree in History with a minor in political science from South Carolina State University;
  • Masters degrees in geography with a concentration in regional and community planning from Indiana University of Pennsylvania;
  • Aasters equivalency in education administration principal and supervision certification from Temple;
  • Masters of divinity with concentration in global missions and community outreach from Lutheran Theological Seminary;
  • a masters of education with a concentration in educational leadership Pennsylvania School Superintendent Letter of Eligibility Certification from Penn;
  • and most recently, he earned his mid-career doctorate in education leadership from Penn.

“I am humbled to be the next principal of Radnor Elementary School,” Stevenson said in a statement. “From the very beginning of my career, my greatest passion has been working directly in a school building. RES has a rich history of academic excellence and a nurturing culture. I look forward to continuing this legacy alongside the school’s dedicated staff and families to ensure we meet the varied needs of our students.”

Stevenson's tentative start date is July 31, the district said.
