Aqua PA Investing More Than $1M On Lower Merion Water Upgrades
Crews are working on Harriton and Gatemore roads, as well as Stanford Drive and Greentree Lane, as part of the service improvement project.

LOWER MERION, PA – Aqua Pennsylvania is currently undertaking on major upgrade work on the Main Line, including a more than $1 million in work in Lower Merion Township, to improve water services around the Main Line.
As part of a $2.8 million infrastructure improvement project in Lower Merion, Radnor, and Haverford townships, crews recently began working on a $523,000 project to install 1,479 feet of new ductile iron main to replace existing 6-inch and 8-inch cast iron mains in Lower Merion.
With project completion expected in December, work is taking place on the following streets:

- Harriton Road between Morris Avenue and a point 379 feet west of Morris Avenue;
- and Gatemore Road between Harriton Road and Morris Avenue
Crews are also working on a $517,000 project to replace existing 6-inch cast iron mains with the installation of 2,225 feet of 8-inch ductile iron mains on Greentree Lane near North Woodbine Avenue. The project is expected to be completed this month.
Additionally, crews are at work on a $81,000 project to replace existing 6-inch cast iron mains with 394 feet of new 6-inch ductile iron mains on Stanford Drive near Lancaster Avenue. Work is expected to be completed in December.

The projects will increase service reliability, reduce the potential for discolored water and improve firefighting capabilities in the area, Aqua PA said. These main replacements are part of Aqua’s $62.9 million capital program in Montgomery County and $51 million capital program in Delaware County for 2017, according to the water company.
