Art With Wings: Kids Craft Workshops at Wayne Art Center

Join us at the Wayne Art Center on Saturday, May 2nd from 1-3PM for a colorful craft workshop day for children ages 7 & up. This fast paced and fun afternoon of art & craft activities celebrates the close of The 5Bs: Birds, Bees, Butterflies, Bats & Bugs, an exhibition presented by the Wayne Art Center in partnership with Audubon Pennsylvania and Radnor Birdtown.

Registration includes participation in all workshop activities. Workshops may be completed in any order, at the child’s own pace and are designed to be completed in approximately 25-30 minutes each.

Carrie Barron, Education coordinator of the John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove, will bring a special guest owl, and present 2 30-minute owl meet and greet programs (1:30 & 2:30PM), so be sure to save time for this!

Craft 1: Mini Decoupage Birdhouse / Joy Kerschner
Using acrylic craft paints, colorful papers, modpoge, and other found objects both natural & man-made, decorate your very own mini-birdhouse for dressing up your front porch or garden this spring!

Craft 2: Cupcake Liner Butterfly Hairclip (or pipe cleaner caterpillar pin!) / TBD
Choose to make a pretty butterfly hair clip or a pipecleaner caterpillar pin to dress up your spring outfits! Using just a few simple materials, you can craft one of these sweet jewels of nature.

Craft 3: Collage Notecards / TBD
Start with a set of standard note cards, embellish with paper punches, stencils, stamps, pretty papers and washi tape to create a set of 3-5 stylish notecards with envelope. Tie with a ribbon to give as a hostess gift, or save for yourself!

Craft 4: Torn Paper 3D Collage (Bird on Branch) / Kate Hochner
Using heavy weight card stock and pretty papers, cut & tear to create a unique layered 3D collage of a bird on a branch or a butterfly in a flower. You will leave with a piece of one of a kind artwork ready to slip into a shadowbox frame and display in your bedroom, living room - or anywhere that needs a touch of Spring!
