Blackmail Email Scam Targets Radnor Resident: Police

The scammers asked for more than $1,300 in a digital currency to keep alleged "personal secrets" about the victim hush, police said.

RADNOR TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Radnor are alerting the public to an email blackmail scam that a resident was the target of recently.

Police said a resident was getting email from an unknown email address that threatened to expose "personal secrets" unless the victim paid a ransom in a digital currency, bitcoin.

The email came from the address minhadleyfb@outlook.com and alleged to have embarrassing information about the victim, police said.

Further, the email said the victim must pay $1346 in bitcoin to keep the "secrets" under wraps, police said.

Anyone else who may have been the victim of this type of email scam is asked to call the Radnor Police at 911.
