As we celebrate America's 250th birthday, join local historian Jim Segrave-Daly for a discussion of John Dickinson &amp; Robert Livingston. An accomplished speaker specializing in American History, Jim’s presentation is the first in a series of 3 lectures at The Finley House throughout the ‘Semiquin’ summer of 2026.
Although obscured by their more famous peers, both men played critical roles for decades, during the Revolutionary era, through the early 19th century.&nbsp; With ties locally, both Americans should be celebrated &amp; recognized for their important contributions to America.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
John Dickinson (1732–1808) was a crucial American Founding Father, a key leader in early resistance against Britain, lawyer and politician, from Delaware and Pennsylvania.&nbsp;
Dickinson is known as “The Penman of the Revolution” because he was able to put on paper the thoughts and ideals which formed the foundation for our brand new country. His pen contributed greatly to the American cause by supporting colonial rights and national endeavors. In 1777, Columbia-educated lawyer, Robert Livingston, was named chancellor by &nbsp;the New York Convention of Representatives.
As chancellor, Livingston presided over the court of chancery, which handled cases involving restitution and sought to apply standards of fairness and conscience. And it was Livingston who, as New York’s legal authority, stood before George Washington on April 30, 1789, at Federal Hall in Manhattan and administered to him the oath of office of the first President of the United States.

CHESTER City - Legal Aid of Southeastern PA (LASP) will hold a free monthly Record-Clearing Clinic the first Wednesday of every month beginning June 3, 2026, from 1-4 p.m. at <a href="https://crozerlibrary.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">J. Lewis Crozer Library</a>, 620 Engle St., Chester, PA 19013. 
The clinic is by appointment only, with no walk-ins permitted. To register, fill out Crozer Library’s <a href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSez_SMoLXwxt7VpKSLsPzhgLzUDjCNbPrG5926sCaNin9oglg/viewform" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Google form</a>: <a href="https://bit.ly/CrozerForm" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://bit.ly/CrozerForm</a>. 
The clinic will provide advice on criminal record-clearing in Pennsylvania. Attendees must have a criminal record in Bucks, Chester, Delaware or Montgomery counties. LASP cannot assist individuals with pending criminal charges or anyone on supervision for a recent offense. 
Record-clearing improves people's opportunities for better jobs, education and housing.

Brandywine Summit Camp Meeting in Chadds Ford is having their annual OPEN HOUSE with a tour of the grounds, Camp History Museum, and a few camp cottages from 1 to 4.&nbsp;Brandywine Summit Camp Meeting is a non-profit Christ-centered association with programs that begin with a Spring Tea in May and end with a Worship Service on August 9th.&nbsp; With continuous service since its founding in 1866, it is one of the oldest Camp Meetings in the United States. Historian Bill Troppman will be speaking in honor of the celebration of America's 250th Anniversary in the open-air Tabernacle at 3:00.&nbsp; Brandywine Summit Camp Meeting is a non-profit Christ-centered association with programs that begin with a Spring Tea in May and end with a Worship Service on August 9th.&nbsp; With continuous service since its founding in 1866, it is one of the oldest Camp Meetings in the United States.&nbsp; The Open House begins the season of programming with speakers, musical groups, Bible Study, prayer, and Revival, culminating in a traditional Walk Around on August 8th.&nbsp; All are welcome;&nbsp; most events are FREE, and offerings are accepted.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jewelry includes Oscar Friedman ruby and diamond jewelry, platinum diamond and gemstone rings, 14k and 18k gold bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and brooches, including gemstone pieces set with sapphire, emerald, ruby, opal, jade, tanzanite, citrine, lapis, and diamonds. Additional highlights include a platinum 3.6 carat diamond ring. Coins include Liberty Head gold coins, American Gold Eagles, and certified PCGS and NGC examples. 
 
The Mid-Century Modern section includes signed Andy Warhol and Victor Vasarely prints, Klaus Ihlenfeld sculpture, furniture by Knoll, Wassily chairs, Frank Lloyd Wright chairs along with Scandinavian design by Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen. Additional modern design includes teak and walnut furniture, lounge seating, and modern tables. 
 
Other furniture highlights include a rare Charles Rohlfs dining table, sideboard, and chairs, a David Rittenhouse tall case clock, a Philadelphia Chippendale side chair, Thomas Moser wing chairs, and additional modern and traditional furnishings. 
 
The historic section features items from the American Revolution through Hollywood's golden age, including John Hancock's shipping documents, Congressional journals, and Founding Fathers' autographs. It also showcases Gold Rush correspondence, a Quaker anti-slavery archive, Civil War soldier letters, and WWI posters.
