10-21-13 Candidates Forum now on You Tube.

10-21-13 Radnor Township League of Women Voters Present the Candidates Forum for Radnor Township School Board, Part 1 of 2. In this segment: Moderator Gayla McCluskey, Director of Voters Services at the LWV gives the candidates the rules and ask the candidates to answer questions presented by the League and members of the audience. The participants include candidates Rob Armstrong (D); David Falcone (R); Martin Heldring (R); Bruce Lenthall (D); Susan Michaelson (R); Lydia Solomon (D); Susan Stern (D). Jim Link (R) could not make it to the Forum and his opening statement is read by Gayla McCluskey. Other participants include Barbara Schraudenback, Timekeeper and Roberta Winters, President, LWV. After the Candidates give their opening statement the LWV will ask the first question.

Question #1: "The finances of the school district are complex and at times confusing to the public. What kind of transparency is owed to the taxpayer so that surpluses do not seem to appear out of the blue and then disappear?"

Question #2: "National and Statewide standards can steer a curriculum toward the more homogenized model and away from an intergrated in a disciplinary courses that have been hallmarked and a source of pride in strong school districts like Radnor. How do you anticipate handling the tension between accountable measures empowered by outside agency and continue to foster academic environment which meets Radnor's high expectations."

Question #5 from the audience: "What are the first three things that you would do to fix science, math and technology education in Radnor?"

Question #6 from the audience: "Enrollment has shifted and Wayne Elementary School is overcrowded, what would you propose to be done?"
