Carroll Hall of Fame to Induct 10 New Members

Induction scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 20, at Carroll

Radnor, Penn.– On Saturday, Oct. 20, at 6 p.m., Archbishop Carroll High School in Radnor (Delaware County) will induct ten new members into the Carroll Hall of Fame.

The honorees are:

Rev. Msgr. Bernard J. Trinity was the founding principal of Archbishop John Carroll High School for Girls and served in that post 1967 – 1973. During that time, he laid the foundation upon which Archbishop Carroll was built and has thrived over the past 50 years.

Joseph McNichol was Head Football Coach from 1969 – 1976, leading the team to two City Championships. In addition to being Carroll’s first Head Football Coach, Joe has held many positions at Carroll through the years.

Rosemary Keefer is the parent of six Carroll graduates and a longtime Carroll employee. She held numerous positions in her 30-year career at Carroll.

Lorraine Beers has been Head Girl’s Lacrosse Coach since 2000. She has led the Lady Patriots to 18 consecutive Philadelphia Catholic League Championships and eight District 13 Championships.

Margaret Lawlor Hutchinson, Esq. ’71 was a 10-time All-American swimmer at the College of William and Mary. A true pioneer, she was the first woman lifeguard at the Jersey Shore, and she was the first woman Assistant Commonwealth Attorney for Virginia Beach, Virginia. She then went on to be an assistant district attorney for Delaware County, Pennsylvania, and then to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Richard Costa ’72,an alumnus and parent of alumni, Dick was a member of the Carroll Advisory Board for 15 years. He is also the founder of the Carroll Golf Outing, which has raised more than $500,000 for the school since its inception.

Eustace Mita ’73 was an All- Catholic and an All City wrestler. He is currently Chairman and CEO of Icona Resorts, Chairman of Mita Management, and CEO of Achristavest, LLC. He has served on several boards and was the Chairman of Development for the 2015 World Meeting of Families, bringing Pope Francis to Philadelphia.

The Late Brian Zwaan ’76was a member of the Carroll Advisory Board and served in that capacity 1990-2011. He was instrumental in keeping Carroll’s doors open and its classrooms filled.

1968 Field Hockey Team led by Coach Karen Geary and Captain Barbara Boyle, the 1968 Carroll field hockey team brought the school its first-ever Catholic League Championship.

1971 Football Team led by Coach Joe McNichol and Captains Joe Santoleri and Bill Zwaan, the Carroll football team won its first Catholic League Championship and its first City Title in 1971.

“This is another watershed moment for Carroll,” said Francis E. Fox, president of the school. “This amazing group of individuals is reflective of everything that is good about Carroll, and we are proud to enshrine them into our Hall of Fame.”
