On Friday, February 14th, a wreath laying ceremony was held at Bishop Richard Allen Park to honor the birth of the park’s namesake and founder of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. The Bishop Richard Allen Park honors the memory of Allen’s 1784 walk to Radnor Township as an itinerant preacher, connecting Radnor to the important history of the founding in Philadelphia of the first African American church in the United States. Reverend Carolyn Cavaness, Pastor of the Bethel AME Church of Ardmore, was present to lead the ceremony along with several members of the community.
