Check Stolen From Villanova Mailbox Then Altered, Cashed

Radnor Township Police said a check made out to pay bills was taken from a residential mailbox in Villanova in early February.

VILLANOVA, PA — Police in Radnor Township are reporting another instance of a check being stolen from a residential mailbox, altered, then cashed.

According to police, a resident on the 200 block of Abrahams Lane put a check in their mailbox for pickup to pay bills.

The check was stolen, police said.

After being taken, the check was altered then cashed fraudulently.

  • Hand your outgoing mail to your Postal Carrier or take to Post Office directly for delivery
  • Do not leave your mail inside the mailbox overnight
  • If applicable, pay bills online
  • If you are expecting and did not receive a check, or other valuable property, contact the issuing agency immediately for verification
  • Do not send cash in the mail
  • Place a security camera nearby the mailbox
