Delaware County Police Sergeant Dies While Off Duty​

Just last week he was voted the Officer of the Year by his colleagues in the Newtown Township Police Department. Rest in peace, sergeant.

A Delaware County town lost a member of its police police to a brain hemorrhage he suffered while off duty, according to the police.

Newtown Township Police said Sgt. Clinton Cunningham died while off duty despite the live-saving efforts of crews from Newtown Township police, fire and EMS, as well as the Radnor, Marple, and Upper Providence township police departments and the Lower Merion FOP Lodge No. 28.

Cunningham was a five-year member of the force and previously served with the Philadelphia Police Department.

Cunningham was voted by his colleagues as Newtown Township's 2018 Walt Wolff Award recipient for Officer of the Year just last week.

He is survived by his wife and four young children.

Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.
