Delco Bridge Work Extended For Half A Year, PennDOT Says

The bridge was damaged recently, extending the work originally planned to be completed in February to mid August.

A Delaware County Bridge undergoing work that was scheduled to be complete in late February will remain closed for months, according to PennDOT.

The Blueball Avenue bridge over Interstate 95 in Upper Chichester Township will remain closed for through mid-August after it was recently damaged during a water main improvement project performed by a contractor for the Chester Water Authority, PennDOT said.

The bridge had been closed to vehicular traffic since late December 27 and was scheduled to reopen Friday, Feb. 24 after the water mains were installed.

The detour has changed for the closure of the bridge carrying Blueball Avenue over Interstate 95 in Upper Chichester Township, Delaware County. The new posted detour will direct motorists over Meetinghouse Road, Route 452 (Market Street) and Ridge Road. The updated press release below reflects the change. We apologize for any confusion.

During the six-month closure, Blueball Avenue motorists will continue to be detoured over Meetinghouse Road, Route 452 (Market Street) and Ridge Road, PennDOT said.

Local access will be allowed up to the construction zone, according to PennDOT.

Motorists are should plan for extra time when traveling through the area or consider alternate routes.
