Delco Man Charged In Wilmington Stabbing Murder: Report

A Delaware County man has been arrested and charged with first degree murder after allegedly stabbing and killing a Wilmington, Del. man last week, according to reports.

Chaz Collazo, 27, of Chester, was charged with first-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and is being held at a Delaware prison in lieu of $1.52 million cash bail, the Delaware County Daily Times reports.

Authorities said Collazo was identified as a suspect through investigation.

The Times reports the victim, 35-year-old Melvin J. Smith, died after being taken to a hospital for treatment when police found him bleeding heavily from his neck at about 9 p.m., Dec. 9.
