​A Delaware County Police Officer who was shot multiple times while on duty in June will return to work this week.

A Delaware County Police Officer who was shot multiple times while on duty in June will return to work this week, the Folcroft Borough Police Department announced Tuesday.

Christopher Dorman has been cleared to return to full police duty, Folcroft Borough police said via Twitter. His first shift will be Friday night.

Dorman, 25, was ambushed while responding to a drug-related call in late June. He was shot seven times but has since made a full recovery.

According to sources, the officer was responding to a call about drug activity when he was ambushed while wearing a protective vest.

Donte Brooks Island, known as Abdul Wahi, 33, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault and other related offenses in connection with the shooting.
