Delco Seeks Chesco's Help For Coronavirus Response
Without its own health department, Delaware County is seeking permission from the state to work with Chester County on COVID-19 responses.
DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Officials in Delaware and Chester counties want to team up to provide public health services in Delco, which does not have its own health department, amid the new coronavirus outbreak.
The Delaware County Council Tuesday said they and officials in Chester County are waiting on permission from Gov. Tom Wolf's office and the Pennsylvania Department of Health to team up for a COVID-19 response.
Council will vote on the partnership with Chester County Wednesday, and Chester County officials will do the same.

After the votes, the counties will wait to hear back from state officials.
Some assistance the Chester County Health Department would include coronavirus testing investigating potential cases, patient surveillance, monitoring hospital volume, and the Establishment of a call center.

The state's department of health expressed concerns over Chester County's ability to provide services to both Delaware and Chester counties.
However, Chester County officials said an analysis showed it does have the ability to serve both counties.
