Donate Tuesday At The Carol H Axelrod Memorial Blood Drive

The drive has a new location, as it is moving from the Radnor Township Municipal Building to the Radnor Activity Center at Sulpizio Gym.

WAYNE, PA — The Carol H. Axelrod Memorial Blood Drive is all set for Tuesday, but this year's drive has a new location.

Donors can give blood from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Radnor Activity Center at Sulpizio Gym, 125 South Wayne Ave. in Wayne.

The drive was supposed to be held at the Radnor Township Municipal Building, but officials have asked the drive be moved to the Radnor Activity Center, which is directly behind Radnor Fire Company and adjacent to the Radnor Middle School athletic field.

All donors will be required to wear a mask for the duration of their time there.

"While the current restrictions will prevent our family from being able to greet donors in person or offer gift bags or homemade refreshments, we are happy that we can still assist the Red Cross and hospital patients by organizing a blood drive in Carol's name during this extremely challenging time," the Axelrod family said. "As the New York Times reported last week, there is the possibility of a 'staggering' drop in the blood supply in the coming weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and every donation is essential to ensuring that patients can receive the care they need."

Organizers have some new ways thank those who donate, including an "enhanced" selection of refreshments and a surprise in the mail for all donors.

For every unit of blood collected Tuesday, the family will make donations to the Wayne Food Pantry, Radnor Fire Company/Radnor Ambulance, and the Live Like Blaine Foundation.
